looks like cloudcone is back with their holiday deals. the $13.59/year one is tempting for a tiny project.
anyone got one of these yet? curious about the real disk i/o in the missouri dc. last time i checked, their ssd performance was okay for the price, but ymmv.
the bandwidth is decent for the cost. good to see ipv6 included. might grab one to run a small wireguard endpoint.
aff link, but the specs are posted clearly at least.
looks like cloudcone’s holiday sale is up. specs seem decent for the price, especially the $13.59/year one with 2 cores and 1gb ram.
missouri dc is okay, not the best for asia pacific but fine for us stuff. bandwidth is generous, 3.5tb on the base plan is plenty.
“lifetime recurring” means the discount renews at same price, right? that’s the main draw. anyone know if they oversell much? their network usually holds up.
aff link, but whatever, deals are real. might grab one to replace my aging vultr nano.
so it’s just their usual missouri stock, right? not actually new hardware. “lifetime recurring” until they decide it’s not, seen that before.
the $13.59 one looks okay for a tiny box i guess. but 1gb ram in 2024 is pretty tight for anything real. might be alright for a super light proxy or something.
bandwidth is decent for the price, 3.5tb on the low end. but it’s all in missouri, so if you need west coast or europe, forget it. they say “more locations” but the deploy link probably just goes to the same old page.
anyone actually bought one of these “xmas” ones? is the performance any different from their regular cheap ssd vps? or just a marketing rename with a slight discount.
yeah, that $13.59/yr deal is solid for a beater box. grabbed one in missouri last week. i/o is what you’d expect – not blazing, but a steady ~150-200mbps on fio. good enough for a tiny vpn or static site.
no surprises on network. ipv6 works. just don’t expect hetzner perf at this price. for the cost, it’s a no-brainer if you need a disposable node. their panel is a bit clunky but gets the job done.
yeah, saw that. specs look fine for the price. grabbed one in mo earlier, did a quick fio. getting ~200-250mb/s seq read, iops around 15k. not amazing but fine for a tiny vpn or static site. network to west coast is okay, ~70ms from la. no ipv4 issues so far. it’s a cheap beater box, can’t complain.
